Spotlight Spice: Taco Seasoning Blend

Taco Seasoning Blend

We've been waiting all week to taco ‘bout this week’s Spotlight Spice… it’s our Taco Seasoning Blend

Our blend is just as easy to use as the foil packets from the “Mexican” section of the grocery store, but packs a much bigger, slightly spicier punch of flavor. It’s the perfect ingredient for a quick weeknight supper.

Taco Seasoning Blend is a perfectly balanced mix of powdered chiles, garlic, salt, paprika, onion, cayenne, corn starch, and other spices great for Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes. It’s a bit spicy, but not overly hot.

Read on for three quick and easy meals which feature our Taco Seasoning Blend. File these away for a few weeks when the kiddos head back to school and evening schedules get packed!

Beef Tacos: Mix 1-2 Tbsp. Taco Seasoning Blend with 1/4 C. water and stir into 1 lb. cooked, drained ground beef. Heat the mixture until it’s bubbling and the sauce begins to thicken.

Taco Burgers: Mix 1 Tbsp. Taco Seasoning Blend into 1 lb. ground beef. Form into four equally-sized patties and grill. Serve on a bun with pepper jack cheese and your favorite burger fixins’.

Simple Slow Cooker Southwestern Chicken: Chuck 2 lbs. frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the slow cooker. Sprinkle with 3-4 Tbsp. Taco Seasoning Blend, then top with 2/3 jar of your favorite salsa. Pour a can of beer over the top and cook on medium heat for four-six hours. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker, shred it, and return it to the liquid. Use for tacos, as an enchilada filling, or for chicken nachos.
